    Fasting Day 1

    GOD.

So I received a revelation of how faith works.  Great faith is not so much what we have, but is knowing how much God has.  People try their best to figure out how to have GREAT faith, but it's not needed.  Jesus said all we need is a small amout to do great things.  That's because the small amount basically consists of a revelation that God is the one with GREAT faith!

    LIFE.

I found out real quick how controlling food is in my life.  I had a slight depression today realizing I couldn't pick my favorite foods to eat.  I honestly felt depressed! And tired too.  God has great mercy on me though and it passed.

Doing a fruits and vegetable fast takes a lot out of you at first.  Just the planning alone on what is acceptable and then going to buy groceries is stressfull. Add two kids to the equation and your lucky if you haven't exploded yet.  I know fasting is not about thinking too much on food, rather focusing on God more, but when it's an idol in your life it's hard to break away.  Anyway, I think the lesson learned here today is how controlling food can be and this fast is neccessary.

    THE REST.

I can't believe how many NACHO LIBRE quotes we made today.  It was quite funny.  My family and I love that movie, it's the best! One moment all hell is breaking loose, the next moment laughter.  Were really trying to wage war on dysfunction, sometimes it gets the better of us.

    Fasting in January

    GOD.

So there is a desperately needed corporate fast at DBC for the month of January.

The 1st-10th will be a fast of vegetables, fruits and water. Listening to and praying through DBC's "Prophetic History".  Setting ourselves apart to grow in knowledge and wisdom in the Lord as daniel did in the days of his youth.  Pray Ephesians 1:17-19.  Seeking the Lord individually for deeper vision and revelation. Asking the Lord to give us His heart for our personal lives and ministries. Pray Psalms 139:23-24.

11th-31st based on Daniel 9-10.  Liquids only.  Praying through the Prayer of Revolution.  Praying for the lost souls written on the back wall at church.   With various prayer meetings the whole month.

Basically I'm going to try to blog everyday of the fast.

    LIFE.

I really love my wife. We've been having a good time together, laughing at each other and cracking up at Scotland and Selah's antics. Sometimes we miss church functions so we all can be together at home and it's needed.

Selah actually flipped me off today. I don't think she meant to though.  She was struggling to squeeze her fist and popped that middle finger!  We couldn't help but laugh.

Scotland has been a little prayer warrior lately.  At the most inopportune times he demands we pray. I love it.

    THE REST.

I'm going to be reading this book this month.

    greatdivorce

Hopefully I'll get to reading Prince Caspian. The movie will be out in may.

Thanks to Rebecca Rury for getting one of these, thus reminding me I needed to get one.

I've been commissioned to create a series of cartoon characters this whole next year and this device is going to make it oh so much easier and faster. Also it came with Corel Painter and I'd like to do some digital paintings.  I'll post those too.

Happy New Year! All your New Years resolutions are DEAD without God. Pray First.

    se·lah -stop and listen

Well, It's official. Selah was born 07-27-07, 7lbs, 19inches. It was a smooth delivery and she's beautiful! I think we leave the hospital Sunday. I love being a dad.

Selah (Hebrew: סלה) may be the most difficult word in the Hebrew Bible to translate. Selah is probably either a liturgico-musical mark or an instruction on the reading of the text, something like "stop and listen". The Psalms were sung accompanied by musical instruments and there are references to this in many chapters. Thirty-one of the thirty-nine psalms with the caption "To the choir-master []" include "Selah" so the musical context of selah is obvious. Selah notes a break in the song and as such is similar in purpose to Amen in that it stresses the importance of the preceding passage. Alternatively, Selah may mean "forever", as it does in some places in the liturgy (notably the second to last blessing of the Amidah). As for word roots, Selah, [celah], is from the primary Hebrew root word [calah] which means 'to hang,' and by implication to measure (weigh). And what we do know is that it is a word which means to weigh or measure. And in the Bible contexts, to weigh the preceding Word of God and wisely consider them. It is a signature exhortation from God for our thoughtful reflection and weighing of what we have just read.[1] Also "Selah" is the name of a city in David and Solomon time [2]
